ACHTUNG Prices of the Mint of Norway not correct
Hi all,
Like many other forummembers I have placed an order by the Royal Mint of Norway.
Today I was recalculating my order and compared this with the prices as shown on the webpage of the Mint.
And, I found out there is a huge difference in the prices between NOK and US$ on their pages.
Examples
------------------------------------------------------
BU set Finland 1999-2001
Price : NOK 800 , US$69,95
Using an online currencyconverter NOK 800 = US$98,55
-------------------------------------------------------
BU set Spain 2002
Price : NOK 225 , US$17,95
Using an online currencyconverter NOK 225 = US$27,72
-------------------------------------------------------
10e Commem. coin Finland "Elias Lonnrot"
Price : NOK 375 , US$37,50
Using an online currencyconverter NOK 375 = US$46,20
Ofcourse there can be some difference in exchange rate but if you take the 3 examples (part of my real order) there is already a difference in calculation of almost 49 dollars !!!!!
And I don't think the rate between the NOK and US$ is changing that much.
The FAQ page of the Royal Mint of Norway says "All transactions are made in Norwegian Kroner (NOK)."
You may want to check your order order again before you get surprised.
Back home I will send the Mint an email asking them to explain the huge differences in prices on their webpage.

@DreamBoy
If it is "expensive" or not is not the issue of my warning
What I meant to say is the difference in NOK/US$ price the Mint of Norway is advertising and the real US$ price we probably have to pay if I change the NOK price into the US$ price with the rate of today

I have read the T&C too ofcourse.
I have just made a recalculation and found out there is more then 125 euro difference in prices in NOK and US$.
Like the French mint there are differences in price because US citizens doesn't pay the tax we have here. But that is not the difference in my totals.
The French Mint shows very clear what price will be charged depending on where you live.
Nope... I have send them an email asking them to cancel my order.

Preise
Es wird am in NOK abgerechnet, also besteht kein Grund zur Beunruhigung. Aber es scheint ja so zu sein, daß die Bestellungen nicht ausgeführt werden können, also spielt es keine Rolle mehr!

 Danke an Euch !

Do I miss something
--------------------------------------------------------
Website Mint of Norway
--------------------------------------------------------
1999-2001 Finland Euro BU sets
NOK Price: kr 800,00 =====> 98,- US$ (today's rate)
USD Price: 69,95 US$
---------------------------------------------------------
All costumers in Europe are paying the NOK price.
All creditcards will be charged with the price in NOK.
WHY is there 30 US$ difference in price ?????
I know there are extra costs for package and posting but that's extra. What concerns me is the "clean" price.

...why was a german car cheaper in spain than it was in germany?...
|
In your example you either buy a car in Gemany or in Spain.
Concreto, you buy it on two different places who have their own price.
In the case of the Norwegian Mint we order an article from their order page (one single point) which contains (after a calculation) two different prices.

Kleine Zwischenfrage ... Könnte der Satz "Prices in US$ are recommended only and will be converted to NOK at the current daily rate" nicht auch anders zu verstehen sein? Also etwa: "Die Preise in US-Dollar sind unverbindliche Richtwerte und werden zum Tageskurs in norwegische Kronen umgerechnet
|
Could be true.
But... When you have confirmed your order you receive an email with the confirmation + bill and the articles are all in NOK's.
Plus... in their "Term & Conditions" they say that all payment will be made in NOK's (All transactions are made in Norwegian Kroner (NOK).

I have sent them an massive email, explaining them the situation as is and I also ask them to cancel my order in advance.
The situation can change when they clear up this issue. (in favore for us ofcourse )
