Die Mint of Finland Ltd plant eine Gedenkmünze zu 2 Euro 2016 auf den 100. Geburtstag von Georg Henrik von Wright in einer Auflage von 1.000.000 Ex. herauszugeben und wartet auf die Genehmigung durch das Finanzministerium.

The commemorative Georg Henrik von Wright two-euro coin is on its way

The second Finnish special two-euro coin of 2016 pays tribute to the great Finnish philosopher Georg Henrik von Wright. The commemorative coin will be released on 17 October.

The Association for Finnish Work has granted proof-quality Georg Henrik von Wright coins the Key Flag label of Finnish origin. One million two-euro coins commemorating Georg Henrik von Wright will be minted.

The commemorative coins will be available for advance order from the online shop on 3 October 2016, 9 a.m. Deliveries of the special von Wright coins will begin on the release date, 17 October.

Auf Nachfrage, was die dorische Säule und der Eichenzweig symbolisieren, erklärte die Münzdesignerin Nora Tapper,

* die dorische Säule stelle die frühen Ideale von Wrights dar, den "Universalmenschen" (Universalmensch – Wikipedia)
* der Eichenzweig symbolisiere die Persönlichkeit von Wrights, seine Weisheit, Würde und Stärke
* der Zweig mit Blättern und Eicheln symbolisiere außerdem die Zeit
* die Anzahl der Blätter (3) repräsentiere die philosophischen Disziplinen (Theoretische Philosophie – Wikipedia / Sozialphilosophie – Wikipedia + Ethik – Wikipedia / Kulturphilosophie – Wikipedia) denen sich von Wright widmete

I studied and examined the biography of G. H. von Wright before I made the first sketches of the coin. The young G.H. von Wright was enthusiastic for Italian renaissance and classical antiquity. His ideal was “uomo universale”, talented and civilized human being. G. H. von Wright made a journey to Italy in 1937 with his friend art historian and writer Göran Schild. They visited Paestum in Napoli which made a great influence to them. In Paestum there are Doric temples. In my design the Doric column express the ideals of young von Wright.
G.H. von Wright was very a widely civilized person. The oak branch symbolizes wisdom, dignity and strength. The three leaves symbolize his three main principles of philosophy. The oak branch, leaves and buds symbolize the time, too.
