Central Bank of Ireland mailt soeben:
2018 Commemorative Coin Programme
As agent for the Minister for Finance, the Central Bank of Ireland is the sole body with the statutory authority to issue legal tender in Ireland, in the form of circulating and commemorative coin.
The 2018 Coin Issue Programme commences on 30 April with the issuance of the Annual Mint Set. The theme for this year’s set is Irish Myths and Legends. Limited to an issue of 6,000 pieces, this set commemorates Ireland’s much-loved and captivating folk tales.
The Coin Programme continues later in the year with the launch of three silver proof commemorative coins.
The first coin to issue is part of a brand new series called Modern Irish Musicians, which honours Ireland’s modern musical talents. The first coin in this series launches during the summertime and commemorates the 70th anniversary since the birth of Irish music legend, Rory Gallagher. A further newsletter will be issued prior to this to give you more information on this launch.
The second coin in the Programme has a political theme and marks an important milestone in Irish history. Issuing in September, the coin marks 100 years since women won the right to vote in Ireland.
The third and final coin to launch in the 2018 Programme will commemorate Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. This spooky coin will launch in October to coincide with Halloween.
RDS Coin Fair
The Central Bank will attend the October Coin Fair 2018 in the RDS, Dublin. We will not be selling Coin Fair Sets this year. We look forward to seeing you there.
