Malta Coin Centre would like to update you with our plans to assist you with your orders. During this unprecedented time, our primary concern is for our staff and of course, our customers.

In this difficult time for all, the Malta Coin Centre site remains open and we will endeavour to deliver all orders as swiftly as possible. However, it is possible that deliveries may be longer than expected.

On 8 May 2020 the Central Bank of Malta will be issuing numismatic coins in gold and silver depicting an illuminated letter from the L’Isle Adam Graduals. The coins are issued under the Europa Programme with the theme ‘Gothic’ and bear the Europa Star logo.

The coins were designed and minted by the Royal Dutch Mint. The obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of Malta and the Europa Star logo. The reverse of the coins depicts an illuminated letter O found in the L’Isle Adam Graduals, which are housed in the museum of St John’s Co-Cathedral. Colour printing techniques have been used on the coins to reproduce the chromatic and aesthetic qualities of the original artwork.

This year's coins will conclude the five-year series dedicated to different periods of European art- forms and history which have been widely grouped as: Modern 20th century (2016), The Age of iron and glass (2017), Baroque and Rococo (2018), Renaissance (2019) and Gothic (2020).

On 27 July 2020, the Malta Coin Centre of the Central Bank of Malta will launch a numismatic coin issue in silver marking the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.

World War II, with its legacy of death, genocide and devastated landscapes, was the most destructive in human history. The war in Europe came to an end on 8 May 1945 and in Far East and the Pacific Ocean on 15 August 1945.

The coins, which have a face value of €10, are limited to 2,000 pieces and were minted by the Royal Dutch Mint. Each coin is struck in 0.925 silver, has a weight of 28.28g, a diameter of 38.61mm and is finished to proof quality.

Issuance of €2 Commemorative Coin 'Skorba'

On 27 July 2020, the Central Bank of Malta will issue a €2 commemorative coin depicting the Skorba temples. This coin is the fifth in a series of seven dedicated to the Maltese islands’ prehistoric sites which are on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The coin reverse shows the common €2 side. The obverse (national side), which was designed by Noel Galea Bason, shows a representation of the Skorba temples.
