I have been collecting British Colonial Coins for a few years now and decided too include these coins in my collection. I have alot of questions about these coins but the 2 i am really wanting to know is I have the KM#1088 1820 MC 24 Mariengroschen, What is the difference between this and KM# 1091 ? Other than the Mint Masters Initials I cannot see one ?

I also want too ask about the V Thaler for Wolfenbuttel

The 5 Taler piece is not for Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel but for Hanover, it's a mistake in NGC

The 24 Mariengroschen is a piece of the time of Carl Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, but in 1816 he was only 12 years old (his father died in the battle of Waterloo), so he was under regency of George, Prince of Wales, the future George iV. of Great Britain and Hanover

As for the 24 Mariengroschen obviously I can see the difference between the 1815-19 & the 1820 one year type but why is the 1821 issue under a different KM number when the only difference is the mint master's initials (C.V.C instead of M.C.)

Other German States coins simply have a variety number eg 1088.1 .2, .3 etc.

Is there something I'm missing with that coin ?

AKS Großer Deutscher Münzkatalog Numbers 28 and 29
Jäger Hannover Braunschweig 224 and 231

Following AKS the differences are C.v.C. instead of M.C. and a missing dot after "Silber" on the 1821/23 piece

Thank you for clearing all of this up, im glad too have found this website because obviously i am no expert with them but im really wanting to learn ! This is my 24 MarienGroschen, Ive got loads of other Brunswick - Luneburg and Hannover pieces but this is my favourite so far because its not really Anglo- Hanover

I am Struggling with this coin. I think i have found it with NGC but there is no date on their catalogue.

As far as I can recognize anything on your photo:

It's the usual shield of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel used until 1834
